Fulham's striker time limit

FulhamFulham will have to move quickly if they want to land reported striker target Vaclav Sverkos amid interest from Russia.

The 24-year-old Czech Republic international was linked with a switch to Craven Cottage over the weekend but his current club, Banik Ostrava, say they are baffled by the speculation.

Spokesman Igor Bruzl told Denik Sport: "Fulham? To be honest it is the first time I have heard about that.

"I have spoken with the club's owner Mr Petera and he was as surprised by Fulham's reported interest as I was.

"There have been some initial contacts, but it is not the case that French clubs have directly contacted the club with the intention of starting negotiations. On the other hand, the offers from Russia have been very specific."

He added: "We would like to have the matter resolved by Wednesday. We cannot delay this situation any further. We need to know if we can count on Vaclav Sverkos or not.

"He feels that the time for him to start preparations for the upcoming season and wants to know which club he will be at."
