Gers need to up Davis bid

FulhamRangers boss Walter Smith has been told he must meet Fulham's full asking price of around £4m if they are to land Steven Davis.

Roy Hodgson says he is aware of the Gers' interest but he wants to keep Davis at Craven Cottage and will certainly not be selling him on the cheap.

Hodgson said in the Daily Mail: "I know Rangers are interested in buying him and they have made bids which, so far, we have not found acceptable.

"He will only leave if a club matches our valuation.

"Every player has his price but, as far as we are concerned, Steven is still part of our squad and he will be welcomed back here."
