Fulham have signed defender Johnny Heitinga from Everton on a free, while Philippe Senderos has left the Cottagers and joined Valencia.
Heitinga has been brought in by Rene Meulensteen to help shore up his backline and his arrival was confirmed after Senderos completed a permanent switch to Spanish side Valencia on transfer deadline day.
Heitinga's exit from Goodison Park was widely expected this month after he struggled to force his way into Roberto Martinez's plans with Sylvain Distin, Phil Jagielka and Antolin Alcaraz all ahead of him in the pecking order.
Heitinga, who has signed initially until the end of the season, said: "I'm really pleased to get the move completed and I'm looking forward to playing my first game.
"This is a club with a great history and I always enjoyed playing at Craven Cottage, I really like it as a stadium. It's not one of the biggest but it's got something special.
"The main thing is to keep Fulham in the league and hopefully the boys will start with a win against Southampton."
It has been a busy day at Craven Cottage with the earlier arrivals of Lewis Holtby on loan from Spurs and striker Kostas Mitroglou from Olympiakos in deal worth over £11million, while Dimitar Berbatov has left for Monaco on loan for the rest of the season.
Fulham were also set to confirm permanent deals for Manchester United youngsters Ryan Tunnicliffe and Larnell Cole late on deadline day.
