Hodgson on 'good' loan deal

Roy Hodgson says he could not stand in the way of Moritz Volz loan move, claiming the switch to Ipswich is 'good' for the player.

The 25-year-old defender has joined the Championship side on a season-long loan and is expected to make his debut in their clash against Watford on Saturday.

Volz has made 144 appearances for the Cottagers but has not featured for them this season, and Hodgson believes a loan deal is in the best interests of all parties.

Speaking to the BBC, Hodgson said: "I think that's a good move for Moritz, he hasn't had too many chances here.

"When he has the opportunity to play more regularly at a top club like Ipswich, it would have been wrong for us to block that."
