Hodgson in for midfielder

FulhamFulham boss Roy Hodgson is eyeing a swoop for a strong defensive midfielder after selling Steven Davis to Rangers.

The Northern Ireland international yesterday completed a permanent move to Ibrox after impressing during last season's six-month loan spell.

And Hodgson has now confirmed he is after a different type of player as a replacement.

He said: "I'm looking for another style of midfielder - a more defensive one who is strong and tall.

"There is a space in the squad with Steven going. The ones who haven't been regulars here have been leaving so the group is getting smaller."

Hodgson could also lose Jimmy Bullard before the transfer window closes after Bolton boss Gary Megson confirmed his interest in the former Wigan star.
