Hodgson ponders double swoop

FulhamFulham manager Roy Hodgson is lining up a double swoop for Bernard Mendy and Louis Saha, according to reports.

Saha - who spent four years at Craven Cottage, scoring 57 goals in 117 appearances - has already admitted he is facing a fight to stay with Premier League and Champions League winners Manchester United as manager Sir Alex Ferguson looks to strengthen in the summer.

He said recently: "The future isn't in my hands, but I'll try to make it happen for me."

The 29-year-old France international may decide his future lies elsewhere if he fails to convince Ferguson he is over the injury problems that have dogged his progress at Old Trafford and the chance to return to Craven Cottage for £4million may appeal.

Mendy, meanwhile, is a free agent after ending his stay with Paris Saint-Germain and Hodgson is keen to beef up his defence

The 26-year-old spent a loan spell with Bolton in the 2002/03 season and can play at left-back, but Fulham could face competition from newly-promoted Ligue 1 side Nantes for his signature.
