Hodgson ponders Johnson appeal

FulhamRoy Hodgson has confirmed Fulham may appeal against the red card shown to Andrew Johnson by referee Andre Marriner.

The England international received his second yellow card in first-half stoppage-time for a challenge on West Ham defender Lucas Neill, although Fulham manager Hodgson felt Marriner got it the wrong way round.

Speaking after the 2-1 defeat at Craven Cottage, Hodgson said: "We think, having watched the video, that it was an unfortunate decision from the referee because it was Lucas Neill, having cleared the ball, who catches Andy Johnson. It was not Andy Johnson kicking him.

"Hopefully the referee will look at that and see that as well. He was trying to block the ball."

Hodgson added: "Will we appeal? We'll see."
