Hodgson ready for Everton raid

NewsFulham are reportedly set to launch an £11m bid for Everton striker Andy Johnson in order to team him up with Bobby Zamora.

Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson has been one of the busiest Premier League managers so far in the summer transfer window and supporters looking to use the £25 free bet are sure to be delighted to hear that the spending spree is not over.

Hodgson has already drafted in Zamora, John Pantsil, Zoltan Gera, Mark Schwarzer, Andranik Teymourian and David Stockdale as he is determined to avoid the relegation struggles of last season.

Seven players have also left the club this summer but, despite the many changes that have already occurred, Hodgson insists his wheeling and dealing has not been completed.

"I am hoping at least one if not two players will be added to our squad," Hodgson told BBC London 94.9.

The latest reports suggest that Johnson is one man targeted by the former Switzerland and Finland boss and it would seem a striker is the top priority to replace talismanic forward Brian McBride.

The deal may hinge on when David Moyes can sign a replacement but the England international struggled for first-team football at Goodison Park last term, with club-record signing Yakubu often played up front on his own in front of a five-man midfield.

Former favourite Louis Saha has also been linked with a possible return to the Cottage as Sir Alex Ferguson appears to have finally run out of patience with his injury problems at Manchester United.
