Fulham boss Roy Hodgson has revealed injured striker Andy Johnson could miss the rest of the season.

The former Everton forward is set to undergo an exploratory knee operation this week with the results of the procedure possibly revealing he needs further surgery which could rule him out for several months.

Hodgson is suffering with several serious injuries at Craven Cottage at the minute with Clint Dempsey and John Pantsil also on the long-term absentee list so the latest news on Johnson is the last thing he needed.

"AJ's going to have an exploratory operation on his knee," said Hodgson.

"If we're lucky and the major operation is not needed, and it's something wrong with the cartilage, then he might be back earlier.

"At the moment we're talking three to four weeks, and the worst-case scenario is the rest of the season and him being fit to join us in pre-season."
