Jol can't make midfielder promise

Martin Jol admits he can't promise Mickael Tavares a chance in the Fulham first-team over the next couple of months.

The former Middlesbrough man was signed on a short-term deal earlier this month as cover for Mahamadou Diarra, but has so far failed to feature.

Former Real Madrid star Diarra made a quicker than anticipated return which has left the former Senegal midfielder kicking his heels way down the pecking order at Craven Cottage.

However, Whites boss Jol said he could still need to call on the 29-year-old ahead of a hectic winter schedule.

"Tavares was a back-up player for me for Diarra and Chris Baird," he said.

"There was not the situation where I could bring Tavares as well but hopefully he could be involved in the next couple of months."
