Martin Jol has reportedly ended his bid to take Santos midfielder Arouca to Fulham following his capture of Tottenham's Scott Parker.
The Cottagers boss had been linked with a transfer window swoop for the highly-rated Brazil star who has won four caps for his country to date.
However, following Jol's successful deal to take Spurs' combative 32-year-old England international midfield man Parker to Craven Cottage on a three-year deal on Monday evening, it seems he has decided not to continue his pursuit of Arouca.
Santos were thought to be looking to at a fee of around £5million for Arouca which Jol was not keen on paying out so it seems the Parker deal works out best for the Cottagers.
Parker quit White Hart Lane after slipping further down the pecking order following the arrival of Brazilian star Paulinho and Etienne Capoue in the summer transfer window.
