Jol eyes Greek freebie

Martin Jol is reportedly set to snap up Giorgos Karagounis on a free transfer for Fulham following his release by Panathinaikos.

The Cottagers chief is still looking for midfield reinforcements after the likes of Moussa Dembele, Clint Dempsey, Danny Murphy and Dickson Etuhu departed Craven Cottage this summer.

And it appears Jol has been alerted by the availability of 35-year-old Greece international captain, Karagounis, who is free to move to a club outside of the transfer window because he is no longer attached to a club.

Karagounis would no doubt be a stop-gap signing for this season, but he boasts a wealth of experience having plied his trade for the likes of Inter Milan and Benfica in the past while he also played and scored for his country at Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.
