Martin Jol appears have missed out on Vasilis Torosidis and Yann M'Vila after Roma and Rubin Kazan made moves for the Fulham 'targets'.
Torosidis, 27, had announced that he would not be renewing his contract with Olympiakos when it ran out in June and issued a statement confirming his decision to move abroad at the end of the season.
Fulham were initially linked but Roma were also keen, having tracked the Greek international for years, and are understood to be close to agreeing a summer switch after announcing the player was in talks with them over a long-term deal.
Jol and his QPR counterpart Harry Redknapp will both be disappointed to hear that Rennes have accepted a £9.6m offer from Rubin Kazan for M'Vila.
The France midfielder does still favour a move to England and has not agreed personal terms with the Russian club.
But Kazan have blown both London clubs out of the water with their offer with QPR and another unnamed Premier League side reported to have made bids that could rise to £6.6m, while Fulham indicated they would pay £5.8m.
