Loan star keen to stay on with U's

Last Updated: Wed, 11 Dec 2013 12:14

Fulham youngster Ryan Williams says he is keen to extend his loan spell at Oxford United for the rest of the season.

The 20-year-old has yet to feature for the Cottagers' senior side but has become a key player for the U's since he joined the League Two side on loan.

The initial agreement between the two clubs ends on January 1 but all parties appear keen to sort out an extension - possibly for the rest of the campaign.

Williams said: "For sure - as you can tell, I'm enjoying my football here. I've had to wait for my chance and I've taken it and proved I should be playing every week.

"I'm having fun, we're getting results and scoring goals, I could not really be happier."

There has been talk that the Australian-born midfielder could return to Craven Cottage and then go out elsewhere on loan - possibly higher up the football pyramid - but he is keen to prolong his stay at the Kassam Stadium.

He added: "I think it would be quite stupid for me to go elsewhere at this point in time."

Williams, who has his admirers back at Craven Cottage with plenty believing he can eventually make it at the highest level, has scored four goals so far to help Oxford to the top of League Two.
