Megson ponders Cottage raid

FulhamBolton manager Gary Megson is ready to test Fulham's resolve with a late move for influential midfielder Jimmy Bullard.

The Wanderers boss confirmed earlier this week he wants to sign two more players before the transfer window closes at the end of August and playmaker Bullard fits the bill.

Megson said recently: "We want to bring two in, I'm hopeful of getting one but, if we don't, we'll just have to go with what we've got."

Megson has already snapped up Johan Elmander, Fabrice Muamba and Danny Shittu this summer, but is keen to add a dynamic spark to his engine room and is a known admirer of Bullard.

The midfielder, who has fought his way back from a career-threatening knee injury, has two years left to run on his contract and is well liked by the Craven Cottage faithful.

However, Fulham's reluctance to speak to the 29-year-old about a contract extension until the end of the season has put a number of clubs on altert.
