Meulensteen confident of Morrison swoop

Rene Meulensteen says West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison has indicated he wants to join Fulham and hopes to sign him this month.

The Cottagers have been linked with a move for the 20-year-old since Meulensteen took charge at Craven Cottage, the Dutch coach having worked closely with Morrison as he came through the youth ranks at Manchester United.

Fulham are thought to have offered the Hammers £5million for Morrison but that bid was rejected and they are now considering whether to make an improved second offer.

Fulham aren't the only club interested in the England Under-21 international's services as Cardiff are reportedly monitoring his progress, although Meulensteen has indicated that Morrison's first choice, if he were to leave Upton Park, would be a move across London.

"Yes, we did make a bid," Meulensteen said, when asked about a deal for Morrison.

"Yes, I think he does want to come.

"He would add pace, power, unpredictability and a real attacking threat.

"I don't know what the situation is now, because that's left with Alistair Macintosh."
