Moyes' AJ quit claim

FulhamEverton boss David Moyes insists Andrew Johnson wanted to leave for Fulham and that he'll spend the transfer fee on team strengthening.

The Toffees boss is expected to pick up around £10.5million for the England international striker after accepting an undisclosed fee from the Londoners on Monday.

And the Scot says Johnson was allowed to leave Goodison Park because he expressed a wish to go, while the fee secured for the former Crystal Palace man will be ploughed back into the squad.

"Why did I sell AJ? It was AJ's choice," Moyes told the club's website. "He decided that he wanted to move on."

He added: "There is money to spend. I'm not going to accept second best and I want to get the best players in.

"I'm expecting to play over 60 games next year. I'm expecting to get to Cup finals, I'm expecting to have a long run in the UEFA Cup and I'm expecting to do well in the League. So, I'm going to need lots of cover and lots of players."
