New Fulham signing Fernando Amorebieta has rejected claims that he left Athletic Bilbao because he was offered a higher wage.
Amorebieta spent eight years with the La Liga club, making 250 appearances during that time and helping the side to reach both the Europa League final and Copa del Rey final in 2012.
The Venezuela international has been accused of leaving the Basque side due to financial reasons, but he has been very quick to fend off these reports insisting that he could not refuse the chance to play in the Premier League.
Martin Jol was quick to move for the central defender in the transfer window, snapping him up on a free transfer after his deal with the Spanish side had run out.
Amorebieta said: "I was very excited about the Premier League and was eager to go there, even though my dream was to triumph with Athletic.
"Money did not make the difference. I'd still have accepted less to sample a new league."
