Rivals set to up Jimmy bid

FulhamBolton boss Gary Megson is tipped to increase his offer for Fulham midfielder Jimmy Bullard to £4m after an opening bid was rejected.

The Trotters boss has ended his interest in Reading's James Harper after the Royals priced him out of a move away from the Madejski Stadium despite their relegation to the Championship last season.

And Megson hopes to land Bullard by handing them a £1.5m profit on the 29-year-old who arrived at Craven Cottage from Wigan in 2006.

"We've made an offer for Bullard and it wasn't accepted, so we will have to see where we go now," Megson told the Sunday Mirror.

"But the Harper thing has been going on for so long now that it has run its course.

"Steve Coppell and Reading don't obviously want to sell, so on that basis we will move on."
