Ronnie Jepson hopes to bring in new faces in the January window after saying his players 'let him down' in the 2-0 defeat to Port Vale.

The Gills players never looked threatening as the slumped to a 2-0 defeat to the Valiants, and boss Jepson says he was bitterly disappointed and let down by his squad.

The manager was also keen to point out that he will have to look to bring in some new players in when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

He said: "I had to bite my tongue because I am not happy with that one little bit.

"At 1-0 down in the second half I still thought the game was there for the taking but we needed some character and one or two players let me down.

"I've got to work with what I've got for now but I will sit down with the chairman and changes will be made in the transfer window.

"That performance wasn't good enough for me, my staff or the supporters.

"I actually walked around to the coach to see if I could apologise to our fans in person but they had already gone and I can't blame them."
