Boss Ronnie Jepson has warned his players that their futures at the club hang in the balance as he bids to finish in a play-off place.
The Gills have fallen to 12th place in the League One standings and out of the play-off zone and following their 4-1 defeat to Millwall Jepson says his immediate priority now is to achieve a sizeable points haul to stave off the threat of relegation before thinking of a play-off place. He has also warned his players he may be forced to replace the ones who are not performing.
He told the Medway Messenger: "As footballers, you live and die by your performances. If they aren't up to the job then I'll get players in to replace them.
"That's what happens in football. It's the same with managers and players, if you aren't up to the job you get replaced."
He added: "My aim first and foremost is to get enough points to stay in this league. Then I'll look towards the play-offs like every other manager.
"We don't try to look at things that might be out of our reach. Our aim is to get as many points as we can out of every game we play."
