Plymouth manager Ian Holloway says he has had a new bid for Gillingham midfielder Matt Jarvis rejected by the club.

The 20-year-old has attracted numerous interest from a host of clubs after declining an offer of a new long-term contract at Priestfield, but Gills boss Ronnie Jepson doesn't want the player to leave.

Holloway says he did make an offer to take Jarvis on loan, with the view to a permanent deal in January, but it was rejected as Jepson still hopes he can convince the highly rated winger to stay with the club.

Holloway told Plymouth's website: "We did make a bid but it got knocked back.

"I don't like to talk about players that are not mine but we did enquire about his availability."
