Former Gills star Mark Patterson is set to return to the Priestfield after being offered a role working at the club's academy.

The former Carlisle and Derby defender recently resigned as assistant manager of non-league side Folkestone and the BBC say he will now take up a position working with the club's youth set-up.

The 38-year-old Patterson made over 120 league appearances in his time as a player with Gillingham, spending five years in Kent between 1997 and 2002.
