Ricky Barnes holds a one-shot lead on eight under in the rain-hit US Open at Bethpage, New York.
The American did not even manage to tee off his third round on Saturday evening when play was stopped with 39 of the 60 players out on the course trying to finish their rounds. Therefore play will resume at 7.30am local time on Sunday in order to try and prevent the need of a Monday finish.
Barnes leads Lucas Glover, while first-round leader, Canada's former Masters champion Mike Weir, is one shot further behind with Sweden's Peter Hanson, former world number one David Duval and Japan's Azuma Yano all on three under.
English duo Lee Westwood and Ross Fisher were in the group on two under with Americans Todd Hamilton and Sean O'Hair and Canadian amateur Nick Taylor.
Meanwhile current holder Tiger Woods, who is chasing a 15th major title, is three over when he parred the opening hole, the 10th, of his third round after making the cut by one. He must now equal Lou Graham's 34-year-old US Open record of coming from 11 back after 36 holes in order to emulate his 2002 win at Bethpage.
