Motivation not a problem - Sorenstam

GolfAnnika Sorenstam has insisted motivation will not be a problem for the upcoming United States Women's Open.

The 37-year-old Swede had long-been at the top of the women's game but has now slipped to second in the rankings behind Lorena Ochoa after losing her appetite to some degree, while she has decided to retire at the end of the season to start a family.

However, she insists she will have no problem maintaining her desire to land what would be her fourth Open title.

"I get extra excited when it's a major," Sorenstam said.

"You only have so much to give and I'm coming to a point where it's hard to get geared up other than for big events.

"It's tough to be out there every day grinding and working and improving. And all the travelling, planning everything you do around golf, you just don't have the energy as much.

"I care a lot about this championship and I'm going to do the best I can to be up there on Sunday."
