However, Norman, who is due to take part in the Seniors Open at Royal Troon on Thursday, said: "I already have something else on my schedule then. I don't want to hold up the PGA of America. I have to make a decision soon."
The double Open champion almost added a third Claret Jug to his collection when he entered the final nine holes a shot clear before the conditions got the better of him to decimate his card and leave him languishing six strokes off the eventual winner, Padraig Harrington.
However, despite the disappointment, Norman believes he will take his good form into the Seniors Open at Troon.
"I like the golf course and I used the Open as a warm-up for the Senior Open, although it should probably have been the other way round," he said.
Norman is one of a host of stars on the competitors' list, which boasts no fewer than 20 major winners.
The likes of Bernhard Langer, Sandy Lyle and Ian Woosnam will all play in the Senior Open for the first time tomorrow.
