Norman happy with form

GolfTwo-time champion Greg Norman was pleased with his round of 70 as he put himself firmly into contention for the Open title.

The veteran Australian shot another round of 70, spoiled only by a double bogey at the 6th and a bogey at the 17th to remain on par, level for the championship.

Norman was impressive around the front nine, picking up a shot at the first and then managed to birdie the 7th and 8th.

However the 'Great White Shark' saved his best shot until last when he managed to save par with a long putt from the edge of the green into a strong head wind.

Norman also produced a top shot from a bunker on the 16th to make sure he didn't bogey the hole and afterwards spoke of his pleasure about some of his play.

"I liked my flexibility in the bunker," he told BBC Sport of his shot on 16.

"You don't practise those stances. I was just happy to get the ball on the green and if you have a chance of making a four then great."

"I made some good shots on the last three holes. The course played a little bit easier today, but I reckon if you put the ball in play then you'll find the green."
