Olazabal suffering from fatigue

GolfJose Maria Olazabal has opted to pull out of next week's French Open after suffering from fatigue.

The Spaniard has not figured since he missed the cut at the PGA Championship at Wentworth a month ago.

The 42-year-old only returned in March after a seven-month absence when battling against rheumatism but says in the six events he has taken part in he has been plagued by low energy levels.

His manager Sergio Gomez revealed: "I've told him he should stop playing until he has regained his strength."

He was planning to return to action in the Open Championship qualifier at Sunningdale on June 30 but given that is 36 holes in a single day there has to be a huge doubt over whether he will take part.

He revealed: "I am not myself and I don't know what to do. I am trying my best but my brain is not there. My brain is fried."

Gomez added: "He has had every kind of test under the sun. Two doctors want him to stop the medication he's on, one wants him to continue. He can't carry on like this."
