Open pairings announced

GolfThe Open schedule has been announced and defending champion Padraig Harrington will play alongside Justin Leonard and Retief Goosen.

Harrington, who defeated Sergio Garcia by one stroke in a play-off at Carnoustie last year, has an early start on Thursday, tee-ing off at 7.58 alongside the man who lifted the Claret Jug in 1997, Leonard, while Goosen is no stranger to major titles having won the US Open twice.

Justin Rose returns to the scene of his fourth-place finish as a 17-year-old amateur 10 years ago and he is paired with five-time winner Tom Watson as well as Australia's Aaron Baddeley.

Paul Casey lines up alongside world number two Phil Mickelson, but has happy memories of partnering 'Big Phil' after finishing as joint first-day leader the last time the two were paired - four years ago at Royal Troon.

However, Casey was unable to sustain it over the four days and finished 20th, while Mickelson missed out on the play-off between Todd Hamilton and Ernie Els by one shot.

Meanwhile, bookies favourite Sergio Garcia is one of the last to go out and will tee-off at 1431 alongside America's Sean O'Hair and Japan's Ryuji Imada.
