Poulter slams the media

GolfIan Poulter has blamed the media hype surrounding him this week for missing the cut at the Deutsche Bank Championship.

The British golfer had travelled to play in Boston instead of at Gleneagles meaning he was solely reliant on a wildcard captain's pick from Nick Faldo in order to play in the upcoming Ryder Cup.

The Open runner-up was looking to have a good first two rounds in Boston which would put him firmly in Faldo's thinking as the skipper prepares to announce his wildcards later today.

However, following fiery exchanges between himself and the likes of Colin Montgomerie - he says he has been unable to focus on his performance on the golf course.

"I'm spent, to be honest with you," said Poulter. "It's been a very long week and I think a lot of misspent energy has been taken up by press, the media, players, everybody.

"It's just so mentally draining to be in this position, to listen and read and to get all the b.s all week. It's seriously, seriously mentally draining."
