Swedish ace takes home title

GolfPeter Hanson delighted the home spectators with victory in the SAS Masters, beating England's Nick Dougherty by a shot.

The Swede started the final round with a two shot lead and a 71 on Sunday gave the 30-year-old the title (-9) in front of patriotic home support in Stockholm.

Hanson, whose only other Tour victory came in the 2005 Spanish Open, started this week 24th in the Ryder Cup standings and has now given himself the chance of qualifying for next month's clash with America.

Dougherty, also seeking a place in Nick Faldo's team, returned to some decent form in Stockholm and his final round 70 saw him share second on -8 with another Swede, Pelle Edberg.

Englishmen Paul Broadhurst, who shot a final round 68, and Sam Walker and Scotland's Gary Orr were tied for fourth on -7.
