"In terms of benefiting the team, Casey would be my first choice because, of the four contenders, I think he's the best player," Torrance told the Mail on Sunday.
"He can be erratic, but he hits the ball a country mile and he's a birdie machine. He would get points for the team.
"I'd also go for Darren because his selection would underline exactly what the wildcard system is designed for.
"He is a player who was out of from at the start of the year and did not do enough to qualifying, but who had hit form at just the right time.
"His experience, his established partnership with Lee Westwood and his larger-than-life character off the course will give Europe something extra."
