Hamilton Academical have opted not to take Reading defender Tom Hateley on loan after having at look at him. However, after his trial spell was initially delayed due to a bout of mumps, he played several trial matches but failed to do enough to win a short-term deal.
"Tom has gone back to Reading," Reid told the Daily Record. "It didn't work out and we wish him all the best. It was a football decision and these things happen in football."
