Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is considering a summer move for Hamilton Academical midfielder James McArthur.

Martinez has been impressed with the way that former Accies star James McCarthy has adapted to life in the Premier League and is plotting a raid for McArthur at the end of the season.

The Latics are currently involved in a relegation battle but the former Swansea boss is looking ahead to another season in the top flight.

"James McArthur is another player that we have been following for a long time," said Martinez.

"I am sure there are going to be a lot of names between now and the end of the season.

"As we did in the previous window, we follow a lot of names and a lot of players - it's about getting the right players and the right characters.

"James McArthur is a great talent. What he has achieved at Hamilton in the SPL is remarkable."
