Simon Mensing will hold no grudge if James McArthur moves on and believes that he has earned the chance to play at a higher level.
McArthur has enjoyed a fine season for Hamilton Academicals this term and has caught the eye of a number of clubs, including Rangers, Wigan, Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion, with a move expected to go through in the summer.
Mensing of course would like him to stay at New Douglas Park but admits that his performances have earned him a crack at the big time.
He said: "James has been massive. He's worked hard. He's a good player and a good lad around the dressing room.
"It will be a shame to see him go but he deserves it. He's been integral to our campaign this season.
"James is ambitious and wants to play at the highest level possible. You can see that in the way he trains and plays.
"After seeing some teammates move on I think he's been spurred on and worked harder - if that's possible."
