Hamilton star James McArthur could make a shock move to Rangers this summer despite interest from Wigan and West Brom.

The talented midfielder has long been linked with a move to the English Premier League and is a top target of Latics boss Roberto Martinez while Albion, who have just secured promotion back into the top flight, are also keen.

However, the latest reports suggest McArthur would favour a move to Ibrox instead of a switch south of the border when he makes a decision on his future at the end of the season.

The cash-strapped SPL champions-elect may be scuppered in their intentions to land him, though, as Hamilton are likely to want at least £2million for the 22-year-old.
