James McArthur believes he will be fit for pre-season after coming through a successful knee operation.

The 21-year-old played through a torn cartilage towards the back and of last season - opting to delay surgery to aid the club in the fight against relegation.

Having achieved his, and the club's, aim, the midfielder went under the surgeon's knife to correct the problem and seems happy with the end result.

"It was very successful," he told the SPL website. "I went in and got the cartilage trimmed and I'm running again, so I'm happy.

"I played through the season for 11 or 12 weeks and I'm happy I've had the operation now."
