Defender Lamine Diatta has been released by Hamilton Accies without him making a single appearance for the club.

The 33-year-old Senegal international joined the Accies until the end of the season only last month, but boss Billy Reid has deemed him surplus to requirements after his failure to oust Mark McLaughlin or Chris Swailes from the central defensive places.

"We took a chance on Lamine but, after looking at him in a few bounce games, I decided he wasn't going to feature for us so we might as well let him go," Reid told The Scottish Sun.

"He's a good player but he wasn't what we needed and he leaves us with our best wishes."
