Trainer James Fanshawe has targeted the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes for Cesare after his win at Ascot on Saturday.

The six-year-old beat Royal Oath in the Group 2 Summer Mile at the weekend to claim his third win at Ascot and is now aimed for the Group 1 mile contest at the same track on September 29.

Fanshawe said: "It was a great performance. On his day he is very good.

"We took him out of the Sussex Stakes, and his ultimate aim is the QEII. He loves Ascot."

Fanshawe confirmed that Cesare's next race will be the Celebration Mile at Goodwood on August 25.
