Huddersfield striker Jimmy Spencer has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign after undergoing surgery on a knee injury.

The club's official website confirmed that the 21-year-old had an operation on Thursday.

Spencer is expected to be out for around 12 weeks and will play no part in the Terriers' survival bid.

He made his Town debut earlier on in the in the Capital One Cup defeat to Preston before making his Football League bow the following Friday against Cardiff.

The academy graduate was then sent on loan to Brentford to gain first-team experience, before another loan spell at Crawley was cut short when he picked up the knee injury.

He had returned to training last week but required surgery after suffering a setback.
