Brown refused to identify any specific targets, but suggested that he is not actually trying to bring all five players into the club. Indeed he is hoping that if one bid fails then the next one will be successful in a scatter gun approach.
"We've got two bids on the table for strikers, two for defenders and one for a midfielder at the moment" Brown told the Hull Mail.
"If one falls in place then that automatically takes out two or possible three.
"We're working hard behind the scenes to get players in but you can only do your own bit as has been highlighted by the Manchester United, Tottenham, Berbatov scenario.
"You can only do as much as you can and then get someone else to say yes to it.
"We've got bids on the table and if those players become available at the other end, then hopefully they will become Hull City players."
Meanwhile Brown revealed that he is planning to make some room on the Tigers wage bill by offloading several players this weekend.
He added: "There's interest for four of our players out there. One is a very serious bid and as a result interest has come from another two clubs."
