Hull boss Phil Brown described himself as 'ecstatic' after his best players were not sold from under him on deadline day.

Hull resisted four big money approaches from Wolves for winger Stephen Hunt with the last one worth £5m but Hull held their nerve and kept their best players.

Brown, who is trying to ensure his side remain in the Premiership, was delighted when the offers were turned down.

He told Sky: "It was a statement of intent by the chairman, the owners of the football club.

"I've got to be ecstatic that I didn't lose my best players on deadline day, which has happened to me before."
