Hull boss Phil Brown has denied that full back Sam Ricketts is about to leave the club and join Portsmouth.

The 27-year-old has played an important role for the Tigers since joining the club in 2006 and he still has a year left on his present deal at the KC Stadium and despite interest from both Portsmouth and Everton Brown says he is staying where he is.

"He has got another year left on his contract so I fully expect him to be in for pre-season training," Brown insisted.

"There is nothing with regards to any of the players making any kind of move with regards to getting away."

As for players coming in Brown admitted to Sky that he was still trying to improve the squad."At this moment in time I am quite happy with the squad I have got and I am trying to improve it by bringing in four or five quality Premier League players,"
