Rovers throw out Tigers bid

Hull have failed with a bid to sign Bristol Rovers youngster Alefe Santos, who will not be allowed to leave on the cheap.

The highly-rated 19-year-old is out of contract but the Tigers would have to pay compensation to Rovers, and the first offer has been thrown out.

It remains to be seen if Hull will go back with another bid but it will have to be greatly improved if they are to be more successful.

Rovers manager Darrell Clarke confirmed a bid had been received, and although he was unwilling to confirm either the identity of the player or club involved, it is thought that Santos is the target and Hull are the interested party.

"We have turned a bid down from a Premier League club for one of our younger players and that is where we are at," said Clarke.

"We won't become an easy target for clubs who think they can make silly bids and then expect to take our players away."
