Hull City's hopes of landing Manchester United striker Frazier Campbell look to be in the balance after Sunderland stepped in.

The England Under-21 star has admitted that he is now totally confused about where he will be playing his football next season.

Hull boss Phil Brown had hoped that the offer of regular first team football and a contract said to be worth £1m a season would be enough to land the player after United had accepted a £6m offer.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has now muddied the waters by declaring his interest in the player he tried to land on loan when in charge of Wigan last season.

Sunderland are now preparing to match Hull's £6m offer and with reported interest from Blackburn as well the move looks to be anything but a formality.
