Tigers target open to move

Last Updated: Mon, 18 Nov 2013 17:58

Hull target Shane Long has cast fresh doubt over his West Bromwich Albion future - despite claiming Steve Clarke wants to keep him.

The Republic of Ireland striker finally seemed to be up and running in an Albion shirt when he netted his first goal of the season at Chelsea in the Baggies' most recent Premier League fixture.

But Long, who was close to a £6.5million move to the Tigers on the final day of the transfer window, is no nearer signing a new contract and is still talking in terms of potentially moving on - with Hull and Newcastle interested.

With little headway being made in contract talks, the 26-year-old concedes his future might lie elsewhere, even though boss Clarke has spoken highly of him of late.

"I have always been wanted there (at Albion)," said Long. "The gaffer said he wants me, I am a big part of his plans and I enjoy playing for him as well.

"I am just concentrating on my football at West Brom and if a new contract doesn't get sorted out, then I'll have to look at pastures new.

"But at the moment I am letting that take care of itself.

"I feel like I am playing well and hopefully I can keep my place in there."
