Steve Bruce says Hull's chances of signing Daylon Claasen look slim as they are unlikely to gain a work permit for the South African.
The midfielder has impressed while on trial with the Tigers and played for 68 minutes as they wrapped up their trip to Portugal with a 0-0 draw against Braga in Albufeira last night.
Bruce has been impressed with what he has seen from the player but the chances of a permanent deal are in the balance due to complications over the work permit.
The Tigers boss says they will pursue the matter but is not holding out too much hope.
"He's neat and tidy and a really good footballer but I'm not so sure we could get a work permit," Bruce revealed. "That's the thing that's nagging away with us. We'll see what develops in the next week or so.
"He looks a little bit lightweight but he's a feisty little thing. I've been quietly impressed."
