Tigers not done spending

NewsHull City are rumoured to be about to make a record transfer swoop of over £2million for Bolton Wanderers striker Kevin Davies.

Tigers fans will be happy to see the club are willing to splash the cash as they look to try and break the trend of teams getting promoted via the play-offs only to be immediately relegated back to the Championship the following season.

Boss Phil Brown has already made several astute buys this summer including the likes of Geovanni, George Boateng, Tony Warner and Bernard Mendy and this week bolstered his back line with the addition of Anthony Gardner from Spurs. The abundance and quality of new arrivals may well tempt fans into using their free £25 bet on the Tigers beating the drop this season.

And it looks as though Brown has not finished spending yet as he has reportedly switched his attentions to the 31-year-old powerful Bolton frontman as he looks to form a new-look strike force at the KC Stadium, which may also include Wigan's Marlon King - who is expected to seal a move in the near future.

There are reports the Tigers have already failed with an initial £1.5million bid for Davies, but they are willing to up their offer to around £2million to land the former Chesterfield, Blackburn and Southampton striker.

However if a fee can be agreed, it is thought that Davies would also relish the chance to link up with Brown - the two being friends from their time together at the Reebok Stadium under Sam Allardyce.
