Tigers still keen on keeper

Last Updated: Fri, 08 Nov 2013 07:28

Hull are monitoring Kasper Schmeichel's situation at Leicester as the goalkeeper has yet to sign a new deal with the Foxes.

Schmeichel has been a revelation for the Foxes this season as they push for promotion to the Premier League but he has yet to sign a new deal, casting serious doubt over his future.

It is thought the Dane is holding out to see if Leicester can win promotion to the top flight this season and will leave on a free transfer if they cannot manage it.

Tigers boss Steve Bruce tried to land Schmeichel in the summer and even though he failed and signed Allan McGregor from Besiktas instead, he will no doubt be keen again should the keeper become available.

Meanwhile, Newcastle also want Schmeichel as back up to current number one Tim Krul and it also remains to be seen if he would be willing to play second fiddle to the Dutchman at St James' Park.
