Hull are set to miss out on defender Brede Hangeland amid reports the defender has opted to join Crystal Palace on a free transfer.
The Norwegian defender has been a free agent since his controversial exit from Craven Cottage at the end of last season, with the Cottagers cancelling his contract despite the deal still having a year to run.
Hangeland has been on the lookout for a new club since then and has recently been linked with a move to Hull City, with Tigers boss Steve Bruce keen to add the experienced defender to his ranks.
However, after talks with both Hull and Palace, it is being reported that the Eagles have persuaded the 33-year-old to stay in London.
Palace boss Tony Pulis has made bolstering his defence one of his priorities this summer and will be delighted to land Hangeland having narrowly missed out on signing centre-half Steven Caulker last month.
